The Roach

Another roach made its way in our home last night. I was upstairs folding laundry and all of a sudden Jeneane and Afif start screaming bloody murder. Osameh runs downstairs like a maniac thinking someone broke in and finds the big guy running on the wall. These tree roaches are frustrating. Jeneane stopped eating her steak; she said she was too disgusted to eat after seeing the roach. Had I known how effective that was in making her stop eating I would have hung a picture of one on the pantry and refrigerator doors. Afif ran up stairs, put on a Spiderman mask, grabbed a bat, and ran downstairs to hide behind the couch. Some superhero he is. When Osameh finally killed the darn thing Afif came out swinging.

I went to my friends wedding on Thursday. It was not a wedding party, just the vows at the mosque. I messed up during prayers because the wedding was at a Shiite mosque and I am Sunni. Apparently we pray differently (I didn’t know that). The Sheikh’s wife didn’t know I was from a different sect. She assumed I was messing up because I didn’t know how to pray so she volunteered to teach me. I took it with a grain of salt but she called me yesterday to ask when a good time was for me to learn. I felt bad letting her down. She seemed offended. Then she tried to recruit me. Needless to say the conversation did not go well after that.

Tomorrow we have another swim meet. I volunteered (I don’t know if you can call it that since they force us to) to marshall the kids. After a month and a half of summer I can barely stand to marshall my own kids. I will let you know how it goes after I spend the day roasting in hell. Please God, let it rain.
